Tap to ID: Reception-less check-in
This demo shows how Gimly Tap to ID technology can be used for a reception-less check-in use case in hospitality. Tap to ID technology leverages self-sovereign identity and NFC technology for smart access control and password-less login.
Alice Jackson is visiting Amsterdam and will be staying in the IHG Amsterdam hotel. Alice books a room online via the SSI Booking webpage, where she selects her travel dates, and a room type, and she can share the required personal information directly from the Gimly ID wallet by scanning a QR code. Alice receives her reservation as a VC in her Gimly ID wallet.
Prior to arrival, Alice visits the hotel webpage to complete her pre-arrival check-in. After scanning the QR code, she shares her personal reservation credential and personal details, and possibly her health status and payment details. She receives her pre-arrival check-in credential in her Gimly ID wallet.
When Alice arrives at the hotel, she will find a 'check-in tablet' for self-service, where she will be able to check in by tapping her phone on the 'check-in tablet' at a desk over NFC. She will be prompted to share her pre-arrival check-in credential, upon which the hotel property system assigns her appropriate room and Alice will see her room number. She will then be able to use the same credential to open the door by tapping their phone on the door lock.
